ACB caught Sr. Assistant director while taking bribe

Khammam, Feb 10: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials arrested a Senior Assistant on Friday, working in the Office of Assistant Director, Welfare of Disabled and Senior Citizens, Khammam on charges of taking the bribe.

Regandla Venugopal was caught red-handed by the ACB in his office while accepting the bribe amount of Rs 2,000 from the complainant Mr. A Sravan Kumar of Tirmalayapem for showing an official favour-- to handover cheque of Rs 1 lakh sanctioned in the name of complainant's wife Ms A Nagalaxmi towards subsidy loan to install a flour mill. The bribe amount of Rs 2,000 was recovered from his possession.

The Senior Assistant is being arrested and would be produced before the Special Court for ACB cases here.

If there is any harassment of physically challenged persons or senior citizens for a bribe by Senior Assistant or any other higher authorities of Welfare of Disabled and Senior Citizens Department, they are requested to contact Toll-Free Number of ACB 1064 for taking action as per law, an ACB release said.
