New Delhi, Feb 09: Australian Legend Glenn McGrath was celebrated his birthday here on Friday. Today, the Australia legend turns 48. In honor of his truly exceptional record at the World Cup, here are some of his finest moments at the tournament.
No man has taken more wickets at the ICC Cricket World Cup than Glenn McGrath.
Between his debut at the tournament in 1996 and his final appearance in 2007, McGrath claimed 71 wickets in 39 games – three more than his nearest rival Muttiah Muralitharan.
His 26 wickets were not just a personal best, but a tournament-best for most wickets at a single edition of the World Cup, beating the record of 23 held by Chaminda Vaas.
The former Australian seam bowler, didn’t possess the vicious swing of a Wasim Akram or the searing pace of a Jeff Thomson, but what he had in abundance was a relentless ability to bowl with an impeccable line and length.
