Health and Insurance Industry welcomes Modicare insurance programme

New Delhi Feb 2: Finance minister Arun Jaitley on Thursday has presented the budget and has announced the largest world health insurance scheme. The FM has announced that 10 Crore poor families and 50 cr people would get an health insurance of Rs 5 Lakh.

The health Industry has welcomed the announcement has said that it is a bold step and it is a starting step for Universal health care.The Insurance Industry has also welcomed the announcement.

Many Hospitals have said that the Scheme is implementable because there is a huge capacity lying vacant and poor people can undergo treatment at these hospitals.

The finance minister proposed setting up of 24 new government medical colleges by upgrading existing district hospitals in the country and also aimed to set up at least one medical college for three Parliamentary constituencies.
