AP govt unhappy as PV Sindhu didnt receive Padma Award

Guntur Jan 26: The Union Government on Thursday has announced the recipients of Padma Awardees on the Occasion of Republic Day and these awards would be presented by Ramnath Kovind. Padma awards are being awarded to 85 recipients. These include 3 Padma Vibhushan, 9 Padma Bhushan, and 73 Padma Sri Awards.

However, the Andhra Pradesh State government has also expressed disappointment as the state had received Just one award and Badminton Player K Srikanth had won the award from AP

The State government had recommended Rio Olympic silver Medalist PV Sindhu and several prominent personalities including Kuchipudi exponent Anand Shankar Jayant, spiritual speaker Chaganti Koteshwar Rao and renowned doctor Vishnu Swaroop Reddy were recommended for Padma awards.

AP Government has expressed its unhappiness as the state government received 3 Padma awards last year. Retired civil servant Tripuraneni Hanuman Chowdary, writer V Koteswaramma and entrepreneur Chintakindi Mallesham received Padma Shri awards from Andhra Pradesh.
