KCR express Disappointment over Padma Awards

Guntur Jan 26: The Union Government on Thursday has announced the recipients of Padma Awardees on the Occasion of Republic Day and these awards would be presented by Ramnath Kovind. Padma awards are being awarded to 85 recipients. These include 3 Padma Vibhushan, 9 Padma Bhushan, and 73 Padma Sri Awards.

However, the Telangana State has expressed disappointment as the state hadn't received any award this year despite recommending
as many as 25 names for Awards such as former Kakatiya University vice chancellor and Telangana ideologue late Prof K Jayashankar and former planning commission member late Ch Hanumantha Rao (for Padma Vibhushan), badminton superstar P V Sindhu and famous English writer late Prof Shiv K Kumar (for Padma Bhushan), popular lyricist Suddala Ashok Teja, folk singer Goreti Venkanna and academician Chukka Ramaiah (for Padma Shri).

The state government has also recommended Bharat Ratna to former Prime Minister P V Narasimha Rao.

K Ramanachary, media advisor to Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has said that "It is highly deplorable and unfortunate. What else is there to comment?".

last year Telangana Got 5 Padma awards and they were awarded to renowned sculptor Aekka Yadagiri Rao, physician Dr. Mohammed Abdul Waheed, retired scientist of BARC and ECIL Chandrakant Pithowa,
social worker and tree lover Daripalli Ramaiah and former Nasscom chairman B V R Mohan Reddy.
