President of India awarded Jeevan Raksha Padak to 44 persons

The President of India has approved the conferment of Jeevan Raksha Padak Series of Awards – 2017 for 44 persons which include Sarvottam Jeevan Raksha Padak to 07, Jeevan Raksha Padak to 24 persons, Uttam Jeevan Raksha Padak to 13 and Jeevan Raksha Padak to 24 persons. Seven awards are posthumous.
Also, a Muslim bus driver who exhibited exemplary courage and presence of mind when terrorists attacked a bus carrying Amarnath pilgrims last year, has been honoured with the second highest gallantry award for civilians.
Shaikh Salim Gafur from Gujarat, whose daring act saved the lives of 52 Amarnath pilgrims, was honoured with the Uttam Jeevan Raksha Padak approved on Republic Day eve by President Ram Nath Kovind for conferment.
