ASEAN Leaders arrive to India  to attend Republic Day

New Delhi Jan 24: The India-ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) commemorative summit will be held on Thursday and the head of the state of the 10 ASEAN nations have arrived in New Delhi today.

leaders from Indonesia, Thailand, Brunei, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Vietnam have arrived in India. The leaders of the 10 countries would also attend the republic day celebrations that would be held on January 26.

The Summit assumes significance because of the significant rise of Indias power in the global world and the meeting is aimed to check the increasing Chinese economic and military assertiveness in the region.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in the bilateral meetings with the ASEAN leaders with the major focus areas on trade along with infrastructural connectivity, regional development in the northeastern states and regional security.
