Several vehicles torched by karni Sena; Section 144 in Gurgaon

Two days ahead of the release of Bollywood film Padmaavat, Karni Sena activists vandalised a mall in Ahmedabad's Memnagar and torched several vehicles in protest. More than 150 four-wheelers and two-wheelers were damaged as mobs went on a rampage after 8 pm, targetting three malls with multiplexes and a standalone theatre complex in the city. In Gurgaon, the district administration enforced prohibitory orders till Sunday to maintain law and order.

Karni Sena's Gujarat unit chief said that their activists have nothing to do with the vandalism and also condemned the violence. Ahmedabad One, Himalaya Mall and Acropolis and Cinemax came under attack despite theatre owners in the city declared that they would not screen the movie.

Two-wheelers parked outside the malls were set on fire and windows of four-wheelers were smashed. Flames were seen coming out of the basement of Acropolis and Himalaya Mall. People who were present in the malls and theatres were safely evacuated and no one was injured, police said.
