Gujarat local body elections - February 17; Counting Feb 19

Polling for the Gujarat local body elections will be held on February 17. The counting of the polls will be held on February 19.
The polls will be held for 75 municipalities, two nagar panchayats, 17 taluka panchayats and 1,400 village panchayats in the state.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which won the recent Gujarat polls, will want to carry on the momentum with a win in Gujarat municipal polls. The BJP had also won the municipal polls in Uttar Pradesh months after winning the assembly polls. The Congress party, which scored its best performance in Gujarat years in assembly polls, would want to do better in the local body polls as well.
