SC dismisses petition of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan to ban Padmavat

New Delhi Jan 23: The Supreme Court on Tuesday has once again reiterated that it is the responsibility of the state governments to provide security and control law and order of the state and dismissed the petition filed by Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan government to allow the states to ban the film.

Earlier the Supreme court had lifted the ban issued b Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh and paved way for all India release of the film and ordered other states not to issue such instructions.

Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh govt on Monday approached the SC to modify the order but the top court had refused the petition. Meanwhile, the Karni Sena has said that it was ready to watch the film but asked the director to specify the date when he would show the film.

Padmavat is a film directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and it stars Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, Shahid Kapoor in lead roles. The film is expected to release on Jan 25.
