Australian Open :Simona Halep , Angelique Kerber enter quarters

Melbourne, Jan 22: Top seed player Simona Halep and German tennis star Angelique Kerber have entered quarter-finals of the Australian Open after winning their women's singles clashes here on Monday.

Romanian tennis star Halep has won the pre-quarters against Naomi Osaka of Japan 6-3, 6-2. The tennis star will now face the winner of Karolina Pliskova and Barbora Strycova in quarterfinals.

The world number one, who has made it to the last eight at Melbourne for the third time.

Kerber, German player had also entered the final 8 by defeating Taiwanese Hsieh Su-Wei 4-6, 7-5, 6-2.The tennis star will now take on America's Madison Keys for a place in the semi-finals.
