North Korea to send 22 atheletes to South Korea for Winter Olympics

North Korea Jan 21: North Korea has agreed to send 22 athletes to next month's Winter Games in South Korea, the International Olympic Committee said today. The IOC had also approved the deal of unified team.

South Korea would hold winter Olympics in February.Earlier North Korean president Kim Jong Un has said that he was willing to send his country members to South Korea to play games.

Earlier both the countries have held talks and agreed to play unitedly.
IOC president Thomas Bach announced that "22 athletes had been cleared to compete in three sports and a total of five disciplines."

"Those include figure skating, short-track speed skating, cross-country skiing and Alpine skiing, as well as hockey."

"At the opening ceremony, the joint delegation will be led into the Olympic stadium by the Korean unification flag" carried together by an athlete from each country, the IOC said.

A special unity uniform will be created for the event.
