17 killed in fire in firecracker factory

On Saturday evening, a fire broke out at a firecracker factory in outer Delhi's Bawana industrial area killing 17 people.

Fifteen fire tenders doused the blaze within two hours. The exact cause of the fire was not immediately known. Officials, however, suspected that a short-circuit could have led to the blaze. At least half a dozen people are still trapped inside the building.

"Our firemen reported that the fire was in a firecracker factory at the basement, ground, and first floors. The fire was of category four which means it was not a big fire. However, explosions took place inside the factory that resulted in the casualties" said Garg.
