SRK and Akshay nominated for Filmfare awards but not Rajkummar Rao

The Filmfare awards are set to take place on the 20th of January. Shah Rukh Khan for Raees, Akshay Kumar for Toilet: Ek Prem Katha have been nominated for Best actor in a leading role, but not Rajkummar Rao, whose performance in both Trapped and Newton has been critically acclaimed is out of nominations.

The exclusion of Rajkummar Rao from the nominations comes as a shock, but as a repeat of something similar that happened last year. Akshay Kumar was surprisingly omitted from the Best Actor category – and Salman included. Rajkummar does it make it to the nominations for Best Supporting Actor for Bareilly Ki Barfi, but it is a little compensation.
