EC Announces poll dates for Nagaland, Tripura and Meghalaya

NewDelhi Jan 18: The Election Commission on Thursday has announced the poll dates and counting dates for the three northeastern states Tripura, Meghalaya, and Nagaland. The Model code of conduct would be applicable from immediate effect.

The Assembly election for Tripura would be held in February 18 and the assembly elections for Meghalaya and Nagaland would be held on Feb 27. The Voting would be held on March 3.All the three states have 60 Assembly seats each.

The Congress is in power in Meghalaya, the Left Front is running Tripura and the Naga People's Front in alliance with the BJP is in charge in Nagaland.The Voting machines would be attached with VVPATs.
