5 bogies of Patna-Mokama passenger train gutted, no casualties

Bihar, Jan 10: In a ghastly incident, The five bogies and an engine of Patna-Mokama passenger train stationed at the Mokama railway station was gutted after a fire broke out in one of the bogies on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday.

The incident happened at around 1 am when railway staffers at the station spotted one of the bogies going up in flames. Soon the fire spread and engulfed four other bogies along with the engine.

The train which runs between Patna and Mokama reached the Mokama railway station at 10.30 pm and was stationed at platform number 4.



Railways employees and local GRP and RPF rushed to the spot to douse the fire but it didn't help. The fire died only after it completely gutted the bogies and engine.

According to sources, the train was supposed to be moved to the yard for cleaning during the night when the fire broke out.

Rajesh Kumar, East Central Railway spokesperson said that the fire which broke out has not impacted the train services. He also said that the fire has been brought under control and no one has been injured.

"The coaches caught fire when the train was stationed in the yard. Patna-Mokama MEMU Passenger train reached Mokama on Tuesday night at 11 pm in Patna. It was stationed in the railway yard of Mokama station when suddenly flames were spotted in two bogies at 1 am on Wednesday. An attempt was made to extinguish the fire, but it engulfed two more coaches," the CPRO said.
