North Korea -South Korea resume talks ahead of Winter Olympics

South Korea Jan 9: In a Move to reduce the tensions between two countries North Korea and South Korea leaders have initiated discussions which were stalled nearly 2 years ago.

Head of North Korea's delegation Ri Son Gwon has said that "We came to this meeting today with the thought of giving our brethren, who have high hopes for this dialogue, invaluable results as the first presentation of the year."

South Korea's Unification Minister Cho Myoung-gyon has said that "Our talks began after North and South Korea were severed for a long time, but I believe the first step is half the trip."

Sources said that the two countries might have discussed about the participation of North Korea participating in Winter Olympics that would be beginning next month.The meeting assumes significance because recently the UN had imposed tough sanctions on the country after it has testfired nuclear missiles.
