Journalists Condemn FIR against news agency by UIDAI for data leaks

New Delhi Jan 8: Some of the Journalists have expressed their anger over the AAdhar agency for filing an FIR against the news agency which had reported about the data leaks. Earlier A news agency has reported that Aadhar biometric data was available on WhatsApp for Rs 500 and only 10 minutes was required.

The news article had described in detail how the data was susceptible to leakages, however, UIDAI had released a statement condemning the report and said that Aadhar data was safe. However the agency has also filed an FIR in police station against the news agency.



However, Journalists have condemned the Action against the news agency and demanded that the FIR must be taken aback.They have also said that "Why shooting the messenger instead of catching the data leak touts.It is totally wrong for UIDAI to file an FIR against the journalist who exposed Aadhaar leaks. If a loophole is found, the government should work on fixing the flaw rather then trying to intimidate the journalist."

The journalists added that "it is an attempt to eliminate the fourth pillar of democracy."
