Fodder scam verdict: Ranchi court sentences Lalu Prasad Yadav to 3.5 years in jail, fines him Rs 5 lakh

New Delhi, Jan 06: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief and former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad has been sentenced to 3 and half years in jail in a fodder scam case. In addition, he has also been fined Rs 5 lakh.

Convicts Phool Chand, Mahesh Prasad, Bake Julious, Sunil Kumar, Sushil Kumar, Sudhir Kumar and Raja Ram were all also sentenced to 3.5 years in jail and fined Rs 5 lakh each. Judge Shivpal Singh pronounced the quantum of sentence for the convicts via video conferencing.



Ahead of sentencing, RJD held a press conference. Party leader Tejashwi Yadav said that BJP and Nitish Kumar are playing negative politics. He also said that people who were creating an atmosphere to scare him can see now that he will neither be scared nor turn away from him ideology.

He also added that, The judiciary performed its duty. We will go to the High Court after studying the sentence and apply for a bail.
