Happy Birthday AR Rahman

Mumbai, Jan 06: India's famed music composer A.R. Rahman is celebrating his 51st birthday today (6th Jan).

Referred to as 'The Mozart Of Madras', AR Rahman kicked off his music career back in 1992 with Roja. The singer-composer, who turns a year older today, was born as Dileep Shekhar. Born in Chennai, India to a Hindu family, A.R. Rahman's mother converted to Islam along with the entire family after her husband's demise.



Regarded as the musician who has a distinct style and taste in comparison to his contemporaries, A. R. Rahman has a long list of feats under his name.

Along with winning four National Awards, Rahman was also given two Academy Awards, two Grammy Awards, a Golden Globe, a BAFTA and 15 Filmfare Awards to name a few.
