Jignesh Mevani: BJP and Sangh Parivar trying to defame me

Gujarat MLA and Dalit leader Jignesh Mevani who was being accused of giving proactive speeches said that BJP and Sangh Parivar are trying to damage his image.

Some news portals have reported that police is zeroing on Mevani for violence in Bhima Koregaon. The violence was clearly anti-Dalit with few unknown community members trying to stop Dalits from celebrating Bhima Koregaon anniversary.

As Mevani is known as Dalit's leader police has even cancelled the student program which was to be attended by Mevani.

"Members of Sangh Parivar and the BJP made a childish attempt to tarnish my image and target me. It is an after effect of the Gujarat results. It is also because they have a sense of fear about 2019 Lok Sabha elections," Mevani said, while addressing a press conference on Friday.

"Not even a single word of my speech was inflammatory. I am just being targeted. No part of my speech was provocative or inflammatory," he added.
