HC nod for increase in ticket prices of Movies

Hyderabad Jan 5: In a Major shock for movie lovers the High court at Hyderabad as allowed the theatres in both Telangana State and Andhra Pradesh to increase the ticket prices and to collect them forthwith without even obtaining any prior approval from licensing authority.

The Judge has also ordered that the theatres must pay the increased share of taxes to the government as per existing tax rates.Justice has pronounced this order after hearing the pleas of various theatre owners who filed writ petitions, seeking permission to allow them to hike ticket price.

The Judge has also said that the theatres can increase the prices until both AP and TS governments frame scientific parameters for fixing the prices of cinema tickets.

However the judge also said that theatres must inform the required authorities regarding the price hike of the movie tickets.
