286  public buses of Maharastra  vandalised in protests

Mumbai Jan 5: The Protests in Maharastra have calmed down in Maharastra have been halted after the state Cheif Minister Fadnavis has ordered a judicial inquiry.Currently, the situation has became normal.

However, during the stone pelting and protests 286 Bombay Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) buses were vandalised in two days -January 2 and 3- in various parts of Maharashtra.Sources said that stone-pelting at the buses have cost a damage worth Rs 20,51,760 for the government.

Earlier protests has erupted against violence over the bicentennial celebration of the Bhima-Koregaon battle and the death of a youth in the clashes that broke out between Dalits and alleged right-wing groups over the celebration near Pune triggered violent protests across Maharashtra and cases of vandalism of vehicles were reported in various areas, including Aurangabad, Pune, and Nagpur.

A total of 16 FIRs were registered by the Mumbai Police relating to the statewide bandh.
