Self-styled Godman Virendra Dev booked in 3 sexual assault cases

New Delhi, Jan 04: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered three cases against self-styled godman Virendra Dev Dixit after several girls, allegedly sexually assaulted and kept under illegal confinement at his ashram in Rohini, were rescued in December 2017.

Earlier the Delhi High Court had directed the CBI to trace the whereabouts of the founder the north Delhi-based ashram. The court also sought a report from the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) on the age verification tests it will carry out on 41 girls rescued from the Rohini ashram.

In December, the Delhi police continued raids at the godman's Adhyatmik Vishwa Vidyalaya ashram in Rohini for days. As many as 41 girls were rescued. Dixit allegedly kept women and girls confined like animals in a cage.
