Stay-order by Delhi HC on Former Jharkhand CM Koda conviction

Jharkhand, Jan 02: The special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court order which awarded three year jail term and Rs 25 lakh fine to former Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda was stayed by Delhi High court on Tuesday.

The stay on CBI court order will remain until next hearing that is on January 22.

Koda, who was held guilty of corruption and conspiracy in allocation of a Jharkhand-based coal block to Kolkata-based company Vini Iron and Steel Udyog Ltd (VISUL), also challenged the December 13 and 16, 2017 orders of conviction and sentence respectively, which was admitted by the high court.

Response from CBI over Koda's appeal challenging his conviction and sentencing was sought by Delhi High Court.
