Over 32 lakh passengers traveled in Hyderabad Metro Rail in one month

Hyderabad, Dec 29: The Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) has received an overwhelming response with 32.25 lakh passengers traveled in one month after its commercial operations started on November 28.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated the first phase of the 72-km long elevated metro project at Miyapur station.

Hyderabad will get catapulted to a higher orbit of development andthe passenger figures will be stablished at one lakh per day, HyderabadMetro Rail Ltd (HMRL) Managing Director N V S Reddy said at a press conference here on Friday.

Out of 24 Metro stations, exclusive parking is provided at 11 stations and wewill shortly call for tenders for computerised smart parking, Mr Reddy said.

Over 1.5 lakh smart cards sold so far, he said 22 percent of passengers are using smart cards and usage of smart cards are increasing day-by-day. Daily sale of smart cards is 2K.

Mr. Reddy said that 80 percent of Urban rejuvenation works are completed and the remaining works will be completed by January 15 next year.

Large-scale encroachments were removed at Metro Stations, he said the last mile connectivity, RTC operating its services and Ola and Uber will start its services soon from metro stations.

Currently, we are operating three bogies (capacity 1000 passengers) and depending on the demand, will add three more bogies, besides increasing of frequency, he informed.

Metro timetable will be displayed at all stations in the next 4-5 days with timings and smart card recharge is possible by Paytm and Tsavari, he said.
