71.24 Cr Mobiles and 82 Crore bank Accounts linked with Aadhar

New Delhi Dec 27: Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has said that nearly 71.24 crore mobile numbers - both new connections and existing - and 82 crore bank accounts have been linked with 12-digit biometric identifier Aadhaar.

The Minister in his reply to Rajya Sabha has said that "Linking of Aadhaar with personal bank accounts is being done based on the amendments that have been effected in the Prevention of Money Laundering Rules 2005. Linking of Aadhaar with the mobile number has been effected in pursuance of...Supreme Court order dated February 6, 2017,".

Earlier the Supreme Court had extended the linkage of Aadhar card with all services including bank accounts, PAN card and re-verification of the Mobiles by March 31, 2018 .

Currently, the government had made Aadhar mandatory various services.
