Jairam Thakur becomes new chief minister of Himachal

New Delhi, December 27: Bharatiya Janata party's five-time MLA Jai Ram Thakur took oath as the chief minister of Himachal Pradesh here on Wednesday.

The oath-taking ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi(for the First Time), Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and BJP national president Amit Shah.

Jai Ram Thakur, who made his electoral debut at the age of 33.He joined the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) youth wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party in the 90s after completing college.



Born in a poor family, Thakur will be the first Himachal Pradesh chief minister from Mandi district.

Meanwhile, The BJP has ousted the Congress from power in Himachal Pradesh by winning 44 out of the 68 seats in the recently held Assembly polls.
