BCCI Drops Ashwin and Jadeja for ODIS against South Africa

Mumbai Dec 24: In another disappointment for fans BCCI had dropped Indian spinners R Ashwin and R Jadeja for the upcoming ODI series against South Africa.However, the Indian Skipper Virat Kohli would be leading the team.

The Cricket body has announced 17 member squad for the six-match ODI series in South Africa to be played in February. Players such as Mohammed Shami, Kedar Jadhav, and Shardul Thakur have been recalled.

Chairman of selectors MSK Prasad said that "After the Champions Trophy, we tried new boys Chahal and Kuldeep), and we’re also being consistent with Axar (Patel). They’ve done reasonably well and with every game, they’re improving a lot. We all felt since they’re doing well, they should be backed".

Skipper Kohli would be back in the team after he was rested for Srilankan one Day and T20 series as he married Bollywood Actress Anushka Sharma.

Squad: Virat Kohli (captain), Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Ajinkya Rahane, Manish Pandey, Kedar Jadhav, MS Dhoni (wicketkeeper), Dinesh Karthik, Hardik Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Shreyas Iyer, Mohammed Shami, Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur.

Feb 7 – 3rd ODI – Cape Town; Feb 10 – 4th ODI – Johannesburg;
Feb 13 – 5th ODI – Port Elizabeth; Feb 16 – 6th ODI – Centurion.
