Ex-Minister Jagannath Mishra acquitted, Lalu and 15 others convicted

Ranchi, Dec 23: The fodder scam verdict was delivered by special CBI court on Saturday. Former Bihar chief minister and RJD chief Lalu Prasad and 15 others were convicted by court in Ranchi.

Former chief minister Jagannath Mishra as well as six others were acquitted in the case.

CBI judge Shivpal Singh pronounced the verdict in a packed courtroom in the case pertaining to fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 89.27 lakh from Deoghar Treasury between 1991 and 1994.



"We will challenge the order of conviction before the high court," Prasad's lawyer Prabhat Kumar said.

Lalu Prasad and other convicts were taken into custody immediately after the pronouncement of the verdict. The quantum of the punishment will be announced on January 3, 2018.
