Nitin Gadkari Visit to Polavaram Postponed

Amaravati Dec 23: Union Water Resources Minister Nitin Gadkari to Polavaram Project on December 22 and 23 has been postponed. sources said the Union Minister may visit the Site on December 27 as President Ram Nath Kovind is also visiting the State on that day.

Officials of AP have said that "the State government is waiting for Gadkari’s visit as several issues pertaining to the project need to be resolved."

"Some of them include entrusting of some works relating to spillway and spill channel, construction of cofferdam, the release of funds and clearance for revised estimates."Officials added

Earlier the Minister After a meeting with State Water Resources Minister Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao on December 6 had assured that the central government would commit for completion of the
project and he would personally review the ongoing works of the project every fortnight.

Gadkari recently in parliament had assured that the project would be completed before 2019 and he would visit the state on Dec 22 and Dec 23.

Earlier the Opposition party YSRCP leaders have met him in Delhi and urged him to take steps to complete the project as soon as possible.
