Bombay High Court quashes Governors order to prosecute Ashok Chavan

Mumbai Dec 22: In a relief for Former chief of Maharashtra Ashok Chauhan in Adarsh Scam case the Bombay High Court on Friday ruled that the order passed by the Maharashtra Governor granting sanction to the CBI to prosecute Chavan in the Adarsh Housing Society scam cannot be sustained.

The court had quashed the Governors Order after a petition was filed by Chavan challenging Maharashtra Governor C Vidyasagar Rao’s decision granting sanction to the CBI to prosecute him in the Adarsh Housing Society scam.

In February last year, Governor Rao had granted approval to the request made by the CBI to prosecute former Maharastra CM in Adarsh Scam as a fresh evidence had emerged in this case.

Currently, Ashok Chauhan is being accused in Adarsh scam where he illegally approved the allotment of 40 percent of the flats to civilians in the high-rise in posh Colaba.
