Oscar 2018: Newton not in Shortlist, Qutub-E-Kripa, Pulimurugan in long list

List of movies contending for the Best Original Score award at the 2018 Oscars has been revealed by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
Shortly after Newton was not named in the shortlist for Best Foreign Language Film, Qutub-E-Kripa's score for Lake of Fire and composer Gopi Sundars score for the hit Malayalam film Pulimurugan, starring Mohanlal, have been featured in the long list.
Pulimurugan is the only Indian film on the list. The ensemble of young musicians Qutub-E-Kripa is from AR Rahman’s music school, KM Music Conservatory.
The composers who are in the list include Hans Zimmer for Dunkirk, Blade Runner 2049 and The Boss Baby; The Shape of Water's Alexandre Desplat; Carter Burwell for Goodbye Christopher Robin and Wonderstruck; John Williams for The Post and Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Rupert Gregson-Williams for Wonder Woman.
