BSNL crosses 1 crore mobile connections in AP, Telangana

Hyderabad, Dec 19: The Country based telecom network operator BSNL mobile connections has also touched one crore last month announced by Chief General Manager V. Sundar on Monday.

By clocking 13 lakh new mobile customers in the fist eight months of this year and slated to increase the number up to 21 lakh, Telangana and A.P. Telecom Circles combined has shown the highest growth rate for Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) across the country.

The Circle is gearing up to launch 4G services and expand 3G services across the State in the next few months at a cost of Rs. 123 crore with orders placed for the equipment or in the testing phase, he said, at a press conference on Monday.

For rolling 4G services next year, 550 new telecom towers are going to be erected while another 424 are to be installed for improved 3G service coverage. It includes 373 new towers and replacement of 158 old telecom towers.

The 4G services are going to begin in February starting from Mahabubnagar and Khammam districts. There are 12,286 towers in both Telugu States - 6,742 in Telangana & 5,544 in Andhra Pradesh.

BSNL Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are also jointly organizing the 17th All India BSNL Badminton Tournament from Dec. 19 to 22 at the GMC Balayogi Indoor Stadium, Gachibowli.

Players from all the 13 telecom circles from across the country will be participating.

Incidentally, the host is the past winner of the tournament, the CGM added.
