20% import duty on electronic items- Prices to be hiked on items soon

New Delhi, Dec 19: The government has increased import duty due to which many electronic items will cost more. Recently news of iphone increasing its prices have hit the market, now news of custom duty on televisions, microwaves and other electronic items being increased is doing rounds.

Smartphones import duty is increased to 15%, whereas import duty on other elctronic items is hiked by 20%

"Further to the government's notification, completely imported CBU (completely built units) will see a rise in the pricing of their product. For instance, a completely imported TV will incur BCD (basic Customs duty) of 20 per cent when compared to a domestically manufactured television," CEAMA President Manish Sharma said.
