NOTA Votes stand 3rd in Gujarat Polls

Gujarat Dec 19: The Gujarat and Himachal Assembly elections results have been announced and the BJP had won in both states. However, the Lotus party has received 16 seats compared to 2012 elections and Congress had gained some seats in rural areas of the state.

However, an analysis of the vote share has suggested that nearly 5 lakh people have opted for None of the Above (NOTA) and the share of such votes is 1.8 %. These votes played a key role in the margin of victories.

Sources said NOTA votes stood third in place compared to independent candidates.the none of the above votes are more compared to the winning margin.Experts said that political parties must introspect their candidates so that better results can be achieved in the future.
