BJP explains digital economy benefits to Delhi traders

New Delhi, Nov 30 : In a bid to promote e-wallet transactions and explain the benefits of digital economy, the Delhi BJP on Tuesday held "My Mobile-My Bank-My Wallet" programme to acquaint both traders and the common man with mobile spending features.

"Today traders and consumers are finding it tough, but a cashless economy will ultimately be in the interest of the traders, consumers and the society at large," Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Satish Upadhyay said.

Hailing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of using digital technology, he said: "My Mobile-My Bank-My Wallet when adopted will make purchases safe for an individual, as he would not need to carry cash."

In a similar drive, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) of Youth Affairs & Sports Vijay Goel also organised a "Mobile Banking March" in Karawal Nagar here, to inform businesses and trade unions about the advantages of mobile banking.

"Mobile banking and digital methods of payment would bring in transparency and also enable ease of doing business.

"Majority of the traders have hailed Prime Minister Modi's decision to demonetise the currency in order to curb black money and corruption," a release quoted Goel as saying.

The Delhi BJP's drive came after the Prime Minister in his monthly radio talk "Mann Ki Baat" on Sunday urged people to start learning how the digital economy works, wherein one can use mobile phones as banking devices and make payments.

Emphasiging on the benefits of digital economy, Upadhyay said, "A purchase billed through bank will ensure product guarantee for consumer and proper tax for the government."

"As the revenue increases, the society will get more welfare and development schemes," he added.

Several BJP leaders, including National Secretary Sardar R.P. Singh and Delhi BJP Vice President Kuljeet Chahal, held discussions with the traders' associations and customers across the city to explain the benefits of switching to a digital economy.
