Amaravati, Dec 17: The Andhra Pradesh cabinet on Saturday finalized the 'tower design' for the upcoming Assembly building in its capital Amaravati, after zeroing down on two designs earlier this week.

The Chief Minister and the Ministers had voted for the tower design and stated that it was also favored by a majority of the public, who voted for their choice, picking between the two final designs.

The 250-meter high structure, which includes a four-storeyed main building, is expected to be up and ready in roughly two years.

Amaravati will have nine thematic cities -Tourism, Health, Electronic, Knowledge, Finance, Justice, Government, Sports, and Culture.

Spread over 54,000 acres between cities of Vijayawada & Guntur, Amaravati will be a modern, technologically advanced, green and blue city, the construction cost of which is expected to exceed Rs 50,000 crore.

Promising to build Amaravati one of the 5 best cities in the world, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu said, "God has given this opportunity to build the capital, Amaravati. I thank all the farmers for supporting & giving their lands for the construction of the people's capital. We will ensure that Amaravati becomes the best livable city, a world-class capital."
