UIDAI Suspends E-KYC licence of Airtel Payments bank

New Delhi Dec 16: The Aadhar implementing Agency UIDAI has temporarily barred Bharti Airtel and Airtel Payments Bank from conducting Aadhaar-based SIM verification of mobile customers using the eKYC process as well as e-KYC of payments bank clients.

earlier some clients have alleged that the mobile company had opened the payments bank accounts without their consent. UIDAI in a statement has said that "suspended e-KYC license key of Bharti Airtel Ltd and Airtel Payment Bank Ltd with immediate effect,"

Airtel company spokesperson has said that "We can confirm that we have received interim order from the UIDAI regarding temporary suspension of Aadhaar linked e-KYC services till their satisfaction on certain processes relating to Airtel payment banks onboarding of customers."

Earlier people had also complained that the LPG subsidy was not transferred into their original accounts and was transferred to the newly opened Airtel bank accounts even though they didn't give their consent.

Finally, UIDAI has not revealed the exact date till the order would be in force.
