Violent clashes between Lambadas and Adivasis in Telangana

Telangana, Dec 16: Gond Adivasi community clashed with Banjara Lambadas in Adilabad district of Telangana on Friday.

The two communities clashed over reservation as a result of Lambadas being considered outsiders by the adivasis of Telangana.

Adivasis opposed to reservation status to Lambadas under scheduled Tribe quota by the state government which was the main reason for tussle.

The violent clashes erupted when Adivasis noticed a garland of chappals on the statue of legendary Tribal Gond leader Kumaram Bheem.

After which properties and vehicles belonging to Lambadas were vandalised and torched.

After the violence, the senior police officials rushed to Adilabad district with additional force. On Saturday, the situation remained under control but tense.

Section 144 Cr.PC has been imposed in the towns of Utnoor and surrounding areas on the district.

Two Companies of Rapid Action Force (RAF) also have been mobilised and rushed to the affected areas.
