South Central Railways(SCR) bags top rank

Hyderabad, Dec 14: The South Central Railway has bagged the top place in performance amongst all the 16 Zones on Indian Railways for the half-yearly period from April to September 2017 in the current fiscal.

The classification is based on analysis of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), which were evaluated and intimated to all zones by the Railway Board on Wednesday.

Vinod Kumar Yadav, General Manager, SCR, complimented the workforce of the Zone for the performance and expressed optimism that the targets for the balance months of the current fiscal would also be achieved.

According to an SCR release, the Zone had achieved the highest of 71.90 percent of marks amongst the 16 Zones on all the combined KPIs. SCR was followed by South Eastern Railway with 69.09 percent and Western Railway with 66.29 percent.

Asset reliability, which speaks of quality maintenance standards, also improved in SCR. Rail failures were brought down to 95 incidents; Diesel Loco failures were 60 cases; Electric Loco failures were 71 cases and Over Head, Equipment Failures were just two. No accident per million train km was also recorded on the Zone.
