Harish Rao flags off Kalwakurthy Lift Irrigation Scheme Jala Vijaya Yatra

Nagarkurnool Telangana Dec 14: Telangana Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao on Wednesday had participated in the Nagarkurnool MLA Marri Janardhan Reddy's 'Kalwakurthy Lift Irrigation Scheme Jala Vijaya Yatra'. The Minister after flagging off the walk had spoken to the media.

Minister had said that " the State government would irrigate 20 lakh acres in erstwhile Mahabubnagar district through various projects which were neglected by the then Congress government."

MR Rao has added that "We allocated Rs 550 crore for the Kalwakurthy project last year and this year, we have allocated Rs 1,000 crore. In the past 13 years, no government had spent so much to complete this project."

Minister had also said that "All that we got from the previous governments were bottlenecks in the form of EPC tenders and pump motors bought seven years ago and left to gather rust while parts inside them were missing."

He added that "his team of Ministers and MLAs had spent nights in the project's pumphouses to get the works of second and third lifts completed."

Earlier Nagarkurnool MLA Marri Janardhan Reddy has started his 'Jala Vijaya Yatra' from Laknaram on Wednesday. The MLA had said that "the reason for the yatra is to walk along the canals covering 130 km for the next 6 days so that any additional works pending can be completed."
