Robot-assisted transplant surgeries successful in Hyderabad

Hyderabad Dec 14: Currently people think that Robots have not entered India especially in the Medical field. However, Yashoda Hospitals in Hyderabad has claimed that Robots have successfully performed three-successful kidney transplantation surgeries in October 2017.

Sources said that currently Hitec Surgeries using robots are performed only in cities such as Mumbai, New Delhi, Ahmedabad and Bengaluru.

Yashoda Hospital doctors have added that " all the three robot-assisted kidney transplants were living related donor i.e the patients received the kidneys from their close relatives."

Urologist Dr. Suri Babu, who headed the surgeries has said that "Robot-assisted surgery eliminates human tremor, an essential requirement while performing complicated surgeries. It allows greater precision, minimal blood loss and a lesser chance of post-operative infection".

Sources said that Doctors have employed Da Vinci Robotic Surgical System made by US-based company Intuitive Systems to reduce the pain and blood loss and faster recovery.

Doctors added that Robots assisted surgeries would cost Rs 1 lakh more than the normal surgery.
