Telangana Govt declares Jan 1 holiday

Hyderabad Dec 12:In a good news for employees the Telangana government has declared Jan 1 as a holiday as the year ends on Sunday.

Government sources said that "With December to end with a weekend, January 1 has been declared a public holiday by the government, making it three days in a row for those who want to welcome the New Year in a grand way."

And such consecutive streaks of holidays are not going to be rare in January.

Sankranti/Pongal falls on January 15, which is a Monday, with January 14, though a Sunday being declared a general holiday instead of the optional holiday it was earlier. This was in view of Bhogi, according to the list of holidays released by the government recently.

Yet another streak of consecutive days can be executed in the last week of January as well, with January 26, Republic Day, being a Friday.
