Transformer blasted in NTPS, no causalities found

Vijayawada, Dec 11: Here is drastic incident has appeared while the blasting of a transformer in the NTPS, Ibrahimpatnam resulted in a tree fall and also caused a break of 500 MW Power Production on Sunday.

In the 7th unit, the transformer caught flames suddenly and in no time it blasted on Sunday.

According to NTTPS Chief Engineer M. Padma Sujatha, a fire broke out of a transformer and it caused suspension of generation.

The fire was put out with foam and repairs were undertaken immediately.

Ms. Sujatha said it would take two days to complete the repairs and resume generation. None was injured in the incident.

Meanwhile, Ms. Sujatha denied reports that the NTTPS was facing coal shortage.
