No spectrum shortage for 5G launch :Manoj Sinha

Delhi Dec 9: India is getting ready to launch 5G services in the future and has started preparations. Telecom Minister Manoj Sinha said that "the government would see to it that there is no spectrum shortage to ensure India does not lag behind the rest of the world in launching 5G services, especially at a time when the country is seeing an unprecedented surge in data consumption."

Speaking at a conference Minister added that "the new telecom policy would be suitably aligned to ensure India is 5G ready and in sync with the world's top telecom markets. Having lagged on both 3G and 4G fronts, the government wants to draw level with the rest of the world on 5G, which is a next-generation mobile technology that promises download speeds of 20 GBs/sec against 1GB/sec on a 4G network ."

Sinha has added that "the fast mobile broadband technology would transform the world much in the same way as the World Wide Web did two decades ago ."

He had assured that "the telecom department (DoT) would take all the right decisions at the right time to ensure there are no spectrum supply challenges along the way".
