Qutb Shahi Tombs to attain past glory

Hyderabad Dec 7: In a move to ensure that historic sites get a makeover Telangana state Archaeology Department has entered into an agreement with the Aga Khan Trust for conservation and restoration of the Qutb Shahi Tombs.

Tourism Secretary, B Venkatesham has said that "The Memorandum of Understanding will have the Aga Khan Trust using its funds for conservation and restoration works with a budget of Rs 100 crore."

He had added that "The Trust had a worldwide repute in the conservation of heritage monuments and had also carried out similar work on the Humayun Tombs."



Sources said that Central government would spend Rs 98 crore from the Centre and the restoration is expected to complete in next 10 years.

Qutb Shahi tombs were built in Hyderabad during the Qutub shahi dynasty in the 15 and 16 century.
