Woman commits suicide with child over dowry harassment

Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Dec 2: Here is a tragic incident has occurred while a woman has committed suicide by jumping into a well along with her three-month-old son at Nagaram village in Bhupalpally in the district on Saturday.

The information reported that The deceased have been identified as Nampally Rama (23) and her son.Dowry harassment by her husband Devender and in-laws Nampaly Rajaiah and Sammakka have allegedly forced Rama to end her life with a toddler.

According to the sources, Devendender had demanded parents of Rama, Kasarla Rajaiah, and Laxmi, to clear Rs one lakh 'dowry dues'. While the parents of Rama had agreed to give Rs 5 lakh, they had already given Rs 4 lakh. But Devender had created ruckus at the naming ceremony of their child on Friday demanding in-laws to give Rs.1 lakh and made it clear that he would not take his wife to their home at the village.

Depressed over the episode, Rama had taken the extreme step of ending life. The bodies have been retrieved from the well and sent for the postmortem. The local police have registered a case and investigating it.
