Gopichand at GES : Local players need to be encouraged

Hyderabad Nov 29: The Global Entrepreneurship Summit was inaugurated on Tuesday by PM Modi, US President Ivanka Trump and CM KCR have attended the inaugural event. The second day of the summit has been discussing a wide range of topics.

Another interesting discussion took place on the 'THE BUSINESS OF WINNING AT SPORTS ENTREPRENEURSHIP'. Popular commentator Harsha Bogle has moderated the session and the sports legends such as sania Mirza, badminton coach P Gopichand and Indian women cricket captain Mithali Raj have participated in the discussion.

Speaking at the discussion Chief National Coach of Indian Badminton team, P. Gopichand said that " The beginning is always tough but one has to keep pushing themselves & their boundaries. Today, the number of people playing sports has increased. We don't have our education system mature enough."

He added that "Sport is primarily local. We need to celebrate our local players. Sports diplomacy, sports entrepreneurs, sports physiotherapists, sports administration, all of them need to be looked at. We need to celebrate sports by itself. Not the champions. Everyone who plays the sport is a champion. If global sport was everything, then we can't run a 100-metre run. Sports needs to be played, it is beyond winning."
