AP CM Naidu distributes 16 cars to Kapu youth

Amaravati, Nov 29: The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has distributed 16 cars to the youth of the Kapu community on Wednesday, under the skill development and self-employment schemes and as a part of digital India, that would allow the youth to become drivers as well as owners of cars.

The initiative is taken up by Vijayawada's Andhra Pradesh Kapu Welfare and Development Corporation Ltd, NTR Trust Bhavan, Hyderabad, and OLA cabs, wherein the youth are given training and provided cars.

The training programme is fully funded by Kapu Corporation, which has provided Rs 50,000 subsidy for each car. In addition, a bank loan of Rs 6 lakh is arranged, and beneficiary contribution is Rs 1 lakh.

The chief minister handed over the documents to the beneficiaries and wished them to become good entrepreneurs, and earn more income.

He also congratulated Kapu Corporation's chairman Ramanujaya and managing director B Udaya Lakshmi, IAS.

Kapu community is one of the major castes in Andhra Pradesh. The community has been demanding for BC reservations, which was a poll promise by the ruling TDP. The issue led to a political polarisation of the community between ruling TDP and opposition YSRCP.
